April 24 (SeeNews) - Romania's northeastern city of Iasi opened a two-stage tender for the design and construction of a multimodal depot, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which finances the project, said on Wednesday.
The tender was launched on April 22 and will close on May 27, the EBRD said in a statement.
The tendered project is part of a broader initiative, named Iasi Green Buildings, for the construction of energy-efficient public buildings in the city. In 2021, the EBRD lent the municipality 20.5 million euro ($21.9 million) to finance the project. The lender signed a 30 million euro extension to the loan in 2022.
The old Dacia district depot used by the city's public transport company, CTP Iasi, to store its buses and trams, was demolished between November 2023 and January 2024 to make room for the new construction, local media outlet BZI reported at the beginning of the year.
